Day 1 update:
Greetings from the road. The first day of the tour started off with a bang at Charm City Skatepark down in Baltimore Maryland. Since my parents live only an hour and a half from there I drove down for the evening where i was greeted with handshakes and high fives from the kids that were ready to get down to some SKATE.

There were about twenty kids there to play and things got heated right away. I honestly could not pick a winner if I had to. All the kids were super good and they were a very stylish bunch, which was really nice to see.

As soon as they found out the Roaring Lions that I brought were for them they ravaged the supply and everyone was juiced to skate.

After a the first ten games we had eliminated half the competition and things moved along. The second round took what seemed like forever. The games were so close. When we finally moved on to our last two games it was the two older guys vs. the three younger guys.

In the younger guys game it was Myles Willard, Tyler Thomas, and “Baby Bob”, who had hands down the best shirt of the day (a lady gaga shirt). Tyler Thomas emerged victoriously.

In the older guys game it was Nick Lumbard, who has super smooth style and great frontside flips against Kevin Scott who had massive pop and a switch trick bag that seemed deeper than the Marianas Trench. And although the game got super close, Kevin’s bag of switch tricks came through and he went on to play against Tyler Thomas in the finals.

The finals was epic! It was trick after trick after trick. The crowd was getting pumped and I felt like i was watching the battle at the berrics! But all good things must come to an end and it came down to a switch 360 flip. Tyler had two tries, but it just didnt happen. Kevin Scott won the Charm City game of Skate. Thanks so much to everyone for coming out, Jason at Charm for the support and all the sponsors for making sure Kevin got to take home a slammin “Back to Skate” prize pack.

I’ll be back with more tomorrow from my home skate shop and long time sponsor Fairmans!

Update Day 2:

Tonight could not have been any better! First off, the game of skate tonight took place in West Chester Pennsylvania, home of our gracious host, Fairman’s Skate Shop. I’ve been riding for Fairman’s since I was 16 years old and i even have a Fairman’s tattoo on my left leg, thats how much the shop means to me. So being able to do an event for them tonight was really awesome in my book.

Alright, enough of the cheesy background information, onto the game of skate. Todays turn out was very similar to yesterdays at charm city. We had about twenty kids in the game of skate and probably thirty to forty people all together in attendance. The roaring lions were on ice and things got started around 6:30. It was perfect weather, all shaded parking lot, and Dave Fairman brought out all the element ramps that he had for everyone to skate and get warmed up on.

The first rounds were yet again awesome, some taking a long time and others being done pretty quickly. Once we made it to the second round you could tell a more than just a couple friends ended up playing one another, because it seemed like each time the persons opponent knew what was coming and was ready for it.

It was Matt Steindl who came in third, with buttery 360 shuv’s and nollie heals that will knock your hat in a creek, but he did not end up making it to the finals. Grant Sobocinski took out matt with a switch frontside 360 shuv it.

We made it through both rounds, and when it came down to the finals we ended up with two fairmans locals battling it out for eternal glory! (and a pretty sweet back to skate package).

In the finals we had Grant Sobocinski and Nate Cabigting – two names that are not exatly easy to pronounce. Nate has hands down the best hardflip I have ever seen in my life. I am not even joking. I have seen lots of people do them, but his IS the best. Grant has smooth style and the tricks to boot, so it was a very intense last game. It was down to the wire, both of them had SKAT until grant pulled a rabbit out of the hat…The almighty late back foot flip. Nate had tried a nollie late flip the try before and once the circus tricks come out, its every man for himself. As soon as Grant landed it you could see in Nates face that it just was not happening. After two attempts Grant emerged victorious and Nate walked away with a smile (and still the best hardflip in the world). Thanks to everyone for coming out and everyone one at Fairman’s for the support! Be sure to check fairmans.com if you’re ever in need of some awesome skate product!

Tomorrow is a driving day and then Friday we will be in Louisville Kentucky! See ya’ll soon!
